Geogrids are polymeric materials used to reinforce and stabilize soil on projects that include unpaved and haul roads, soft soils, (e.g. marine clays and others), embankments and slopes, retaining walls and other projects with challenging soil conditions, heavy load requirements or where traditional solutions are not cost- or time-effective. At the WACEL October 22 Meeting at Maggiano’s Springfield Mall, 11am-1pm, Steve Williams, PE, a sales leader with Tensar specializing in geosynthetics will describe why and how geogrids are commonly used on construction projects. He will explain:
One CEU will be presented for attending this session.
About the Speaker:
Steve Williams, PE is a graduate from Mississippi State University with a BS in Civil Engineering. He began his consulting career in Arcadis in Atlanta, GA. In 2010 he left the consulting world and became heavily involved in the geocentric industry. Steve joined the Tensar team in 2017 and has worked in various markets such as coastal protection and ports before accepting the mid-Atlantic regional manager position and moving to Wilmington, NC. Today, you can typically find him on challenging jobsites working with local engineers, stakeholders and contractors to provide geosynthetic solutions for soft soils, reinforced slopes and pavement maintenance applications. When not working, he enjoys spending time with his wife and 2 kids chasing them around the country for sporting events and even sneaking in a little time to go fishing..
